My Mind's Eye- The Sweetest Thing Collection- Cherish Layout- Nicolle Kramer

My Mind's Eye- The Sweetest Thing Collection - Bluebell
Cherish Layout
Designed By: Nicolle Kramer

My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell is the kit I created with this month.

I have the hubby take a picture of the kids and I at  every holiday or special get together. This was taken at Easter this year. I just love how silly Jolie was when this picture was taken. I love true expression photos. We all look happy in this photo.

Some techniques I used on this layout are scissor distressing the edges of the papers then go over with brown ink. Lots of layers and embellies of course.

Here is a cluster beneath the photo that I created with one of My Minds Eye doilies and layered stickers.

This is a cluster at the top of the photo that I also used the layered stickers, buttons and enamel dots.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Primo Prima Album by Moriah Macdonald

Prima Pocket Album-Part 1
featuring Prima Marketing- Engravers Line

Hiya Peeps!  It was such a lovely day yesterday (71 degrees) that I thought I would snap pics outside for a change.  Don't get too excited for us New England folks yet.  It's supposed to be simply ugly on Friday.  They mentioned the "s word" even.  Nothing that should amount to anything, thank goodness!

Today I'm sharing Part 1 of a project! :)  Charlie sent me a set of goodies from the Prima Engraver line and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a pocket album with it!!!!
The album is made from two pocket folders that have been folded into quarters and then bound together using a binding machine.  If you want to know more about how to create the album base, leave me a message in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to you. :)

The paper was all 12"X12" cut to 4"x11.5" for the slash pockets (and covers too) and 4"x7.5" for the full pockets.  The great part is that the leftover from the 4"x7.5" is used on the front of the bottom part of the full pocket. :)

I am leaving you with a mystery until Part 2.  How will I keep things from falling out of the slash pockets?  What things will be put in the pockets?  What more embellishing can be had?  These questions and more will be answered, so be sure to tune in to find out!  In the meantime, here is another scrappy tip...

Since I bought the folders in generic bulk from one of the big box office places, the pockets were slashed and the insides had the company name, so the .5" part that was cut to make the 4"X11.5" paper used in the slash pockets was big enough to use to cover the company label.  Every bit of scrap was used.  LOVE when that happens- it makes for less cleaning. Whoo-hoo!

Make sure to stock up on goodies so you can follow along when Part 2 gets posted. :)

My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing Collection - Happy Layout- By Nicolle Kramer

My Mind's Eye- The Sweetest Thing - Bluebell Collection
Happy Layout
Designed by: Nicolle Kramer

Charlie sent me the My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing to create with for the month of April.

I know it's spring in many places right now but when I saw the papers in this collection the pictures of my daughter Jolie ice skating came to mind first. The colors in the photo's and this paper work so well together. This was Jolie's first time ice skating. She had fun but only lasted about a half hour. I think the last time falling on her bum was it for her.

Some techniques I used on this layout are of course layers. I applied gesso first to give the feeling of snow and ice cold. It's kind of hard to tell but I also used a bit of watered down gesso to add splats to top right and lower left of the layout. I used many different fibers to create this layout crocheted doilies, lace and ribbons.

See how the layered sticker doily kind of reminds you of a snowflake shape. I tried to incorporate the doilies and snowflakes throughout the layout for a sort of flow to the design.

I even added some twine to the title tags.

Thanks for stopping by!

Washi tape Matchbook Box featuring My Minds Eye

Washi tape Matchbook Box
featuring My Minds Eye, Graphic 45 and Petaloo products

Here is a picture of the fun products I get to work with this month.  I am so excited to get to play with My Minds Eye Collectible collection.  The papers and embellishments in this collection are BEE-U-TI-FUL!!!!  I am doing a 2 part project with this collection so stay tuned for a second part coming later this week.

I was so lucky to be able to help out in The Hens Den booth at the CKC scrapbook expo last week in Portland.  I had so many new ideas when I left after spending 2 days surrounded by gorgeous paper and embellishments.  Although washi tape is the newest, coolest trend in scrapbooking and paper crafting, I had yet to collect any.  The Hens Den has quite an assortment of washi tape available, and it found myself leaving the expo with a small collection.  As fate would have it, on my flight home from Portland, I was lucky to sit next to Megan Hoepner, editor from Creating Keepsakes magazine.  I admitted to her that I was having a love affair with washi tape, but had yet to play with it.  She was SO SWEET and pulled out her phone and shared with me some of her washi tape projects.  Once again, I was so full of new ideas and ways I hadn't even thought to use washi tape.  I have been holding on to this 8 x 8 matchbook box from graphic 45 for a while and I knew that I wanted to used the washi tape for this project.  It was so easy!!  I just started laying down the tape one after the other.  I could not believe how easy it was and what a great look you got.

My Minds Eye has these 3 tapes together in one package.  I added the pink petaloo flower and really, does it need more?  As I said this is a 2 part project, so watch for the second half coming later in the week.  I hope that this gives you some fresh ideas.

I can't wait to hear what you think.
