Bo Bunny's Iasabella Collection- I Smile Layout- By Nicolle Kramer

Bo Bunny's Isabella Collection
I Smile Layout
Created By: Nicolle Kramer
A New Chic Sketch for The Hens' Den designed by Design Team Member: Lori McClellan

Look at the goodies I got to work with this month from Charlie at The Hen's Den.
I love the colors in this collection.

This month we are all sharing our take on the
I created a layout using the left side of the sketch.

I recently took a picture of my daughter's after they both got their new hair cut. Kayla had her hair cut first. Jolie loved it so much she just had to have her's done. She looks up to her big sister. They are six years apart.  I immediately thought of Kayla when I saw this sticker "I smile because you're my sister.
I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it." I can totally see my oldest daughter Kayla saying that to Jolie. Kayla is way more outgoing then Jolie. She says things very often before thinking. The whole foot in mouth thing comes to mind when I think of Kayla. I guess I can't blame her for speaking her mind. She's very honest but needs to be more mindful of what she says.  Jolie on the other hand is very shy, quiet and sweet. Both pretty little ladies though.  They both pulled off the short do really well.

I added a bit more to the background using Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Gesso. To get the butterfly effect I used a stencil and dabbed the Gesso on very lightly with a make up sponge. I layered the Bo Bunny Petals and  attached pearls or brads to the center. I fussy cut a couple flower images as well. For an added touch of color to the chipboard flourish I attached 3 pink gems.

A closer look at my layered flowers. I love dimension on my pages.

For added embellishment to the fussy cut image
I cut ribbon to mimic the pennants and added a chipboard element.

I would love to see how this sketch inspires you. Please share your take on The Hen's Den  Facebook Page.
Be sure to check out Design Team Member Anita Mulcahey's take on the sketch on Monday!!
Don't forget to check out the Hen's Den Store for new product from winter CHA.

A Pink Holiday Layout by Nicolle Kramer using My Minds Eye Follow Your Heart Be Happy

A Pink Holiday
Designed By: Nicolle Kramer
Featuring: My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart Be Happy

About 2 months ago my daughter decided to dye her hair pink. Yes pink like Easter egg pink. I am all for freedom of expression so I figured why not? Kayla is 16 years old and well if her hair falls out it will always grow back. Hee Hee! This year I bought a new tree for the holiday. If you know me I love the color pink. So yes you guessed it. I bought a pink Christmas tree. I thought it would be a cute idea to get a pink haired girl next to the pink tree and take a picture. I believe its going to be one PINK holiday.

I made this layout without using any Christmas or Holiday related papers. The techniques I used in this layout scissor distressing, fussy cutting, tearing, layering and I used mist on the red flower. For inspiration I search the internet for sketches.

To get an ornament type effect I cut 3 hexagon images from Honey Pink paper and cut bakers twine different lengths. I made bows and added to top center of hexagons.

I fussy cut and image from Be Joyful paper.

Preparing and assembling your layout:

  • I used 12"x12" Your Song paper for base.
  • I used the tear technique on the Pink Striped , Be You, Flourish and Doily papers. I layered them so you can see all the papers plus the background base paper.
  • The photo is matted with black bazzill paper that's 1/4" bigger all around.
  • I fussy cut 5 hexagons from honey pink paper, 2 doilies from doily paper, 1 frame from adorable paper and a flowery  image from Be joyful paper.
  • I layered 2 doilies, 1  frame and  2 hexagons  under the photo. I adhered the photo on top the layers with foam squares and adhered the fussy cut image a bit over the bottom left of photo.
  • For extra embellishments I added brads and gems sporadically around photo. Refer to top photo. I used alpha stickers for the title and placed them to the right of the photo.
  • For the top right of layout I strung 3 hexagons from bakers twine to give and ornament type effect. I also added 7 rows of gems with 3 or 4 gems in each verticle row to add a festive look.
  •  Finished off adding the daisy lace trim to left side of the photo. Adding flowers and a decorative clip to top left of photo.

Preparing and Assembling your layout:

  • Fussy cut half hazard around the hexagons from the Striped Pink Paper B side. I cut a shape of about the size of 10"x10". Attach to the center of the base paper.
  • Cut a 5 1/2"x5 1/2" piece from Never Forget Paper. Attach to center of Striped Pink Paper B side.
  • Attach a Be Happy Transparency to the right on the Never forget paper.
  • Cut a 4"x4" piece from Your Song Paper and attach to the left on top of the Never Forget paper and Transparency.
  • Cut photo to 3 1/2" x 5" and mat with pink Bazzill paper 1/4" larger around. Attach on top of Your Song Paper.

  • Fussy cut 5 doilies. Four from Happy Doily paper and 1 from Your Song Paper.
  • Fussy cut images  from Be You and Never Forget papers. These will be attached at the bottom of the photo on your layout.
  • Cut 6  little 1"x1"banner pennants from Happy Doily paper B side. Punch two holes and attach them together using bakers twine. I used 3D foam tape to attach to top right of layout.
  • Cut 2 larger  3"x 2 1/2" banner pennants from  Be You paper B side.
  • Cut a 10" piece from both May Arts Ribbons , Satin Grosgrain Coral and Antique/ Olive  Ribbon. Cut  each side to look like pennants. Attach one to the other and add to layout under photo.

Heroes Layout by Nicolle Kramer using Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections

Heroes
Designed by: Nicolle Kramer
Featuring: Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections

I decided since it was November and we celebrate Veterans day that I would honor my Grandfather and Father by creating a layout. I believe veterans should be honored everyday though. Call me a bit biased since both of my grandfathers,my dad, uncles, cousin and friends have served. My grandfather fought in World War II (left photo) and my dad ( right photo) they both were in the Army. As you can see in both photo my grandmother stood behind both her husband and her son. That's one strong women. I have heard stories that when my father was drafted that she did have a very hard time with it. I am sure every mother would. It was a sad and scary time. I am grateful to have such wonderful people in my life as role models. They have all passed on and I miss them all dearly.
