Prima Lyric Clipboard Calendar

Prima Lyric Clipboard Calendar
Featuring Prima - Lyric collection

It's back to school time and you can find great deals on school and office supplies.  This year I found these blank plain clipboards at Walmart for under a dollar.  I picked up several because I want to make some teacher gifts with them.
First thing is to cut your paper to fit the clip board.
You can see that most clipboards and just slightly bigger that 12 inches, and it leaves some blank space at the top.

Take your cardstock, adhere a small piece bigger than the space you need, then use the Prima distressing tool, to shape the paper perfectly to size.
As if it wasn't cute enough, I added some embellishments and ribbon.
I tied ribbon to the top flap and also tied a binder clip to hold the name of the month.
I created a blank calendar grid, then copied it onto a transparency.  I added a bit of adhesive to the bottom of the transparency and put it under the black ribbon, to hide it, and clipped it down on the top with the clipboard.  Now you can use a wet erase marker to write dates and notes on your calendar and use it month after month.

Note: I flipped the image and copied it so the ink is on the back side of the transparency. The reason is so when you write and erase with a wet marker, it doesn't pull or wipe of the copy.

This was such a fun project to create.  You can find the supplies at The Hens' Den.

The New You Layout by Nicolle Kramer using Kaisercraft 75 Cents Collection

Kaisercraft 75 Cents Collection
The New You Layout
Designed by Nicolle Kramer

Here's a picture of the yummy goodies I worked with in July.

Happy Tuesday friends! Today I am sharing a layout of my daughter's new hair cut. Kayla recently got a job at Aeropostale and had to dye her hair back to a natural hair color for the job. She had blue hair at the time. Kayla went with a color closest to her natural hair which is dark brown. Her hair is very difficult when it comes to bleaching and or coloring. Parts of her hair actually looked greenish. Playing around with her hair has left it really damaged. So I talked her into getting it cut and leaving it alone for a good long time.  Kayla has the shape of face that she is able to pull off a short or long do. I like the cut on her and her blue eyes pop with the dark brown color. Her hair is much healthier now as well.

A few of the techniques used on this layout are stamping, distressing, tearing and layers. I also applied tissue paper with modge podge. I love the crinkled look. I cut apart the border of flowers into individuals and attached them under the brown crocheted ribbon. I also cut apart the butterfly border stickers apart and attached them throughout the layout.

Here I tore the side of the paper and added some flowers for a pretty cluster.

Here's a close up of the cluster created to the right of the 2nd photo.

Thanks for stopping by. Stop by The Hen's Den store and grab this amazing collection.

French Country Bookmark by Moriah Macdonald

Happy Monday!  Today I have my last Graphic 45 French Country creation to share with you. :)  When I was down at The Cape last week we were talking about reading, 'cause of course teachers LOVE to read, and who reads in a book vs. kindle/iPad app.

Here's a quick reminder of the goody pile I got from Charlie that helped inspire this project. :)

All that talk got me thinking about how I need a new bookmark!  I've been tutoring this summer and the books we are reading together are all hardcopy rather than electronic.  Good excuse to whip out my goodies and create this little gem.

When I showed my husband what I made his response was "Wow!  That seems too nice for a book."  Well my response "Nothing is too nice for a book!". *smile*

Get well soon featuring Prima Marketing Lyric Collection

Prima Marketing Lyric Collection
Get Well Soon card
It's Saturday, whew, I'm so glad.  We are getting Patrick from North Carolina today and I will be happy to have him back because it has been so quiet here.
When Charlie asked us last month what kit we would like to work with this month, I spent about 2 hours trying to figure it out because she has such great products in the store.  I eventually decided to use Prima Marketing Lyric Collection.  I hadn't worked with this collection before and am so glad I picked it because it is so beautiful and the colors are so gorgeous.
I created a card using this wonderful collection for a get well soon card for my friend who is going through chemotherapy to help rid her of the pancreatic cancer she has.  She is doing well and is looking great, but the best thing is her spirits are still up.
This is going to be a short post because I'm going to go spend some time with my boy.  I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Swaggy Layout by Nicolle Kramer using Kaisercraft 75 cents Collection

Swaggy Layout
Featuring Kaisercraft 75 Cents Collection
Designed by Nicolle Kramer

This is the amazing kit I worked with this month.

My daughter Kayla went to her very first concert recently and saw Justin Bieber. Thankfully a friends mother went along with them as a chaperone. I am not a huge fan of Justin or his type of music but figured it would be a good first concert for her. We purchased the tickets for her back in November and it was part of her Christmas present. We were lucky enough to get some pretty good seats. Kayla had a blast. It's all she talked about for days. The next concert she is going to see Big Time Rush with my Sis, nieces and Jolie (her lil sis). This will be Jolie's first. Kayla bought a T-shirt and hat from the Bieber concert. I think in this picture she could actually pass for a little boy. She's still a cutie.

A few techniques used on this layout are layering, ink distressing, tearing and stencil using modeling paste. To create some of the layers I cut Kaisercraft pound paper and layered the journal cards behind the photo.

A close up of stickers layered and a pretty flower cluster.

Some more layers and flowers.

Thanks for stopping by The Hen's Den blog.

Happy Birthday with Graphic 45 by Moriah Macdonald

Happy Birthday Cards
Featuring Graphic 45 French Country

Good Morning Everyone!  As you read this I am on my way to enjoy some gal pal time at The Cape.  Have no fear though because I have an easy 'n fun tutorial for you today! :)  It's a birthday themed set which seems appropriate since today is my FIL- Don's birthday and 2 teacher pals birthday's as well!

Here's another peek at Graphic 45's French Country line that inspired this card set. :)

 I started with cutting some yellow cardstock 4 1/16" X 3 5/16".  Then I cut the Sunflower paper 2 1/2" X 3 7/8", the Deja Vu paper  2 1/4" X 3 7/8", and the Rendezvous paper 1 1/2" X 3 7/8".

I layered everything leaving a 1/8" yellow border.  In retrospect, I probably didn't need to make the middle layer quite as big because I covered a good chunk of it with the bottom clock paper.  Oh well. :)

Next I cut 4 pieces of burlap ribbon about 4 inches each.  I added score-tape to the back of each one 'cause I've had the best luck with score-tape and burlap ribbon. :)

After adhering the burlap ribbon to the card fronts I set about getting the sentiments ready.  I used a couple of dies to cut more of the yellow paper & some cream, layered them together, added a sentiment, blinged them up, and foam taped them on the cards.  I adhered each one to a cream card base with some score-tape.  Now everything is ready to sign 'n send!!

Goodies used to create this set:
Tim Holtz - Distress Card Stock- Straw
Graphic 45- French Country- Sunflower
Graphic 45- French Country- Deja Vu
Graphic 45- French Country- Rendezvous
My Minds Eye- Sweetest Thing- Enamel Dots
Mon Ami Gabby- Burlap Ribbon- Green

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Smile card featuring Prima Marketing Lyric Collection

Prima Marketing Lyric Collection
Smile card
created by Janet G. Bagnall
My friend, Anita, is on the design team at cardabilities and when I saw her creation for this week's challenge, knew I would have to join in, because it is a great sketch and worked great for this collection.  I have to participate in these challenges more often because they are so much fun.
I love the specials touches to this collection.  Love the music note clips and the paper - I love music and this is right up my alley.
Here is my full card.  I am going to send it to my friend who has started chemo recently and am hoping this will put a smile on her face.

I hope you have a great weekend.
