Wonderful Tag by Nicolle Kramer using Prima Engraver Collection

Prima Engraver Collection
Wonderful Tag
Designed by: Nicolle Kramer

Hello Friends! Today on this Memorial Day I am sharing a quick project. I made a tag using the Engraver Collection. Below is a picture of all the goodies I created with this month.

I hope everyone is relaxing and spending time with their loved ones. Every year we have a barbecue with the immediate family. This year I will be remembering the veterans in my family. My dad and both grandfather's served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam, World War II and Korean wars. These men are my true Heroes. Last year after we made the hard decision of taking my dad of life support and as he lie in the hospital bed weak, I was lucky enough to thank him for everything he did for us through the years. I even had the chance to tell him he was my Hero. Although he was very week and couldn't speak he was able to nod and was very coherent. It was the hardest thing to do to watch your parent slowly die right in front of your eyes. I wish things could have been a little more humane. Even though they said they would keep him as comfortable as possible I just don't know if the morphine did that. The doctor's think part of the reason his heart was so damaged (he was 63) is because he was exposed to Agent Orange in the Vietnam war.  I am so thankful for all the men and women in uniform... past, present and future who keep this country free.

I layered a lot of different elements on this tag from the Engraver collection. It was the first time I have ever made a double bow.

Here's a close up of the center of the tag. I used chipboard elements, decorative frame and flowers in a cluster. I just loved working with the little metal frames.

I mist the canvas resist bird, fussy cut a flower from one of the papers and added chipboard elements to make leaves. I also added a bit of natural hemp for added interest.

Thanks for stopping by! You can find all these products in The Hen's Den store. Have a relaxing Holiday.

Fun Moments by Nicolle Kramer using Prima Marketing Engraver Collection

Prima Marketing Engraver Collection
Fun Moments Layout
Designed by: Nicolle Kramer

Today I am sharing my latest layout using Prima's Engraver Collection. Here's the kit I worked with this month.  Love all the neutral colors in this collection.

Well it's that time of year again. It's getting close to the end of the school year and my son is a senior this year. We are preparing for his prom and graduation. The end of the school year for the last couple years have been hectic and expensive. My children being so close in age proms and graduations are one after another. Below Bret went to get measured for his tux for the prom. we even bought him patent leather Chuck Taylor converse sneakers. It's sort of a tradition since we also bought them for my oldest when he went to prom. I had to get a shot of him with his Men's Warehouse bag. My daughter is also going to the prom I didn't want her to steal all the photo opportunities being only her Junior Prom.

My kids are my world and I enjoyed using this collection with the Atlas designs representing just that. I fussy cut part of the globe from one of the patterned papers. I kept the flow using many different circular elements and embellishements. To me the numbers could represent the grade he is in , or even his age. I just had to add the ticket because to me it  represents the price of the tuxedo or the prom ticket. It may sound kind of funny but a lot of thought goes into my projects.

Here's a few close ups of my clusters.

Many people are afraid to add flowers to a masculine layout. I don't feel a flower makes it any less masculine. It also adds to the circular elements on the page. I finished my layout with a few  black paint splats.

There's still time to play along with the Chic#2 sketch. We would love to see your take on it. Please share it with us at The Hen's Den facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope I inspired you to create something with this amazing collection. You can find all the materials at The Hen's Den store.

Have a good day!

Together Layout by Nicolle Kramer using Prima Marketing Engraver Collection

Prima Marketing Engraver Collection
Together Layout
Designed by: Nicolle Kramer

Happy Friday Friends! Today I am sharing a layout I created with this amazing Prima Engraver kit.

Mother's day is Sunday and I figured I would share a layout I created with my mom and I. This photo was taken of us on my birthday.
So I was debating whether this would be a bit of a personal post or not. I typically don't get very personal but I figured I would give it a try. I am trying to improve my writing skills. The main reason for my debate is I wanted to try to keep this light-hearted and happy. Being the honest and upfront person I am it's a bit difficult. Although I love my mom dearly I can not say that I always like her. Let me explain, my mom suffers from mental illness. This disease can be a very selfish one. I want to clarify I am not looking for sympathy I am just trying to keep it real. We all have our own journey.  As a child I suffered many embarrassing situations and she spent a ton of time in the hospital. Even still today I find her difficult to deal with. I often feel the role is reversed and she is the child. I envy those who were blessed with a mother they could confide in,be nurtured by, receive guidance from and not only be a mom but have an amazing friendship into adulthood. Instead I felt neglect and abandonment. I grew up a very shy, easily embarrassed, people pleasing child maybe searching for acceptance I suppose. I guess a "normal mom" wasn't in the cards for me and have learned to live with it. I am sure having a mental illness is not a day in the park. Please know I have compassion, understanding and love for those who do suffer. I realize no one wants to go through these things. I can only imagine her pain as a sufferer. Acceptance is something that took a very long time and society doesn't make it any easier. My mother is a hand full but I love her. She is on medication to control the symptom's. It's not a cure but it helps. My mom is not completely awful person. She is a silly, loving , caring and a somewhat giving person. As giving as she can be. The word's of my late dad (which often ring in my ears when I am upset with my mom) "she's still your mom you know."  With all that said I hope everyone has an amazing mother's day filled with lots of love and hugs. Umm and I can't forget patience. Wink, wink!

I went to a big chain craft store this past weekend and spent the birthday gift card that I received from my son. I bought a few new punches (not like I needed them) and used them on this layout. I bought a new border heart punch and an all over the page heart punch both by Martha Stewart. I enjoyed punching into these fabulous Prima Engraver papers. I made a bit of a fun mess misting the resist canvas too. So much fun.

Look at these yummy flowers by Prima in the cluster I created. I am sure you know by now I enjoy making clusters on my pages. I mixed in a trinket and chipboard piece from prima as well. For added interest in the cluster I fussy cut a few flowers from one of the their papers. I like many different manufacturer's but Prima is one of the must have's in my stash.

Here's a few different layered and punched strips of paper. I even used the bits of hearts left over from the punch on my layout. Don't forget you can find this amazing collection at The Hen's Den Store.

Have a fun and  happy weekend creating those memories. Hug those momma's!

We would love to see what you come up with using this sketch. Please share at The Hen's Den Facebook Page.

Prima Pocket Album-Part 2 featuring Prima Marketing- Engravers Line by Moriah Macdonald

Prima Pocket Album-Part 2
featuring Prima Marketing- Engravers Line

Remember this album I showed you a few weeks back?  I told you I would show you how I would use the pockets and how to keep the goods from falling out of the slashed pockets...

The pockets all got a 3.5"x 6" piece of cream cardstock.  The cardstock can be used for journal writing, or extra pictures, or both!

The pocket tags got some extra embellishment with some ruffled ribbon and circle punched pretties.  Since most of the goods used are rustic looking, I thought stapling the ribbon & circles would be way cooler than just adhesive. :)

The slash pockets are held together with washi tape. Eeeek!  I just LOVE the stuff!  Usually I punch a hole in both pockets, weave some twine, and tie a bow.  When I saw this tape though, I knew it was perfect!

The flowers on the slash pockets are from Bo Bunny paper.  The Hen's Den sold out of this paper (there are still deals to be had in the On Sale section!) when it went on sale, but I gave you a suggestion of something I was swooning over. :)

I hope you were inspired today!  Wanna craft your own fab creation?  Check out the links below.  Please share with us what you make from goods you got at The Hen's Den!!!

A Primo Prima Album by Moriah Macdonald

Prima Pocket Album-Part 1
featuring Prima Marketing- Engravers Line

Hiya Peeps!  It was such a lovely day yesterday (71 degrees) that I thought I would snap pics outside for a change.  Don't get too excited for us New England folks yet.  It's supposed to be simply ugly on Friday.  They mentioned the "s word" even.  Nothing that should amount to anything, thank goodness!

Today I'm sharing Part 1 of a project! :)  Charlie sent me a set of goodies from the Prima Engraver line and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a pocket album with it!!!!
The album is made from two pocket folders that have been folded into quarters and then bound together using a binding machine.  If you want to know more about how to create the album base, leave me a message in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to you. :)

The paper was all 12"X12" cut to 4"x11.5" for the slash pockets (and covers too) and 4"x7.5" for the full pockets.  The great part is that the leftover from the 4"x7.5" is used on the front of the bottom part of the full pocket. :)

I am leaving you with a mystery until Part 2.  How will I keep things from falling out of the slash pockets?  What things will be put in the pockets?  What more embellishing can be had?  These questions and more will be answered, so be sure to tune in to find out!  In the meantime, here is another scrappy tip...

Since I bought the folders in generic bulk from one of the big box office places, the pockets were slashed and the insides had the company name, so the .5" part that was cut to make the 4"X11.5" paper used in the slash pockets was big enough to use to cover the company label.  Every bit of scrap was used.  LOVE when that happens- it makes for less cleaning. Whoo-hoo!

Make sure to stock up on goodies so you can follow along when Part 2 gets posted. :)
