Teresa Collins Memories colection - Easter layout - Lori McClellan

Teresa Collins - Memories collection
Egg-stra-ordinary Easter Layout
by Lori McClellan

IT'S HERE!!!!
2013 Chic Sketch #2 by (me) Lori McClellan

So, without further ado......Here is my take on the sketch, one step at a time.
(2) 12 x 12 pages, with a shared, square houndstooth, accent layer.

A big strip across the top where I am going to put the pictures.  (Polka dots make me happy!!)

Another strip below it using the cute flower paper.

Woops, I lost a few of the inbetween pics, but I added a second strip of gray with tiny white dots, white lace and then the pictures of my cute kids in their Egg shaped glasses.

I designed the title and cut it out of vinyl.  I added more embellishments and some journaling.  Simple, yet the simplicity allows the photos to be the focal point of the layout.

So are you ready to whip out your supplies and make a layout?  When you do, be sure to share it on The Hens' Den facebook page.  We will be picking 2 of you to be guest designers and your work could be shown here on the blog!!!  I'm not even kidding when I say I am SO EXCITED to see what your take on the sketch will be.

A New Chic Sketch for The Hens' Den designed by Design Team Member: Lori McClellan

Hey there Peeps!  Don't you just LOVE all the new CHA goodies?!?!?  Charlie sent me a box-o-fun full of fabulous treats from the new Teresa Collins Memories line.  EEEEEEKKKKKK!

This month we are all sharing our take on the New Chich sketch from The Hens' Den, created by Design Team Member Lori McClellan!  Combining her newest awesome sketch with my Teresa Collins stash and you have...

Design Team Member, Lori McClellan is uber talented and she came up with a 2 page sketch.  For this card, I used the left side, but my DH wants me to try the right side too.  He had an idea for how he thought a card using the right side might look. :)  Maybe I should have him make that card and share it with all of you! :)

Rather than photos, I used the stamped calendar & layered flower with chipboard wording.  Instead of layering paper pieces on the background, I used Teresa Collins stamps and then added a ribbon bow in lieu of flowers in the middle.  Trying to think a little outside the box and still respecting the Chic Sketch at the same time.  That's the great thing about using a sketch as a jumping off point.  It really makes you stretch yourself to, as Tim Gunn says, "make it work".

It's easy to look at a sketch for a layout and think "layouts only".  I'm here to challenge you to apply The Hens' Den chic sketch created by Lori to a card, or even a tag!  One of the coolest projects I made was a set of mini tags using a layout designed for a A2 card.  It might not turn out exactly as you expect, but we always learn something for trying, right?

The part I most love about this card is how you can use this stamp set to personalize the date.  It makes it awesome for scrapbooking memories, but also for creating a super special birthday or anniversary card.

So, waddya say?  You in for giving The Hens' Den Chic Sketch for March a try?  Post your creation to our FB page so we can see your fab work!  Need more inspiration to take the leap?  Stop by tomorrow to see my Teamie Carolyn Lontin's take on the New Chic sketch from The Hens' Den, created by Design Team Member Lori McClellan.

A New Chic Sketch for The Hens' Den designed by Design Team Member: Lori McClellan

Happy 1st Monday of March everyone.  Can you believe I am saying that?  Me neither.  Today is my day to bring you a project using The Hens' Den Chic Sketch, Created by Design Team Member Lori McClellan while using the new My Mind's Eye Collectable - Unforgettable collection.  I was so excited when I opened up my kit and found all these goodies inside - I love everything about it.

Isn't this new Chic sketch from The Hens' Den sketch great, created by Design Team Member Lori McClellan?  I love it and hope you will give it a try (please let us know if you do so we can take a peek).  I'm going to show you my completed layout in two parts so as to not overload you with so much fun - LOL :)  The one I'm showing you today is the title page.

We had taken Jared and Elizabeth to Ghost Town in The Sky years ago and when I went through my kit, came across this unique cardstock (well, it is to me) and an idea came to me.  I took a rectangle piece of brown Graphic 45 "Signature Series" Core'dinations cardstock, tore it down to the size I wanted, crumbled it up, distressed it with sandpaper and some Tim Holtz vintage photo ink and voilĂ , I got a faux leather look :)  I found the parks' name off their website, printed it out and place it on top of that.  What do you think?  I was pleased with the result.

While working on setting up my layout, I had it lined up with the strips going like what is on the new Chic sketch from The Hens' Den sketch great, created by Design Team Member Lori McClellan had  on the sketch, but after looking at it, I just couldn't get it to look right, so took those strips and put them underneath each picture.  I think it turned out pretty good.

This is a great  My Mind's Eye Collectable - Unforgettable collection that has lots of fun goodies to play with and look forward to using this collection often.  I am excited about showing you the rest of my take on this fun sketch soon.

Have a great Monday and hope you will head over to The Hens' Den store to take a look at all the great products Charlie and The Hens' Den has on hand and check out what will be a part of spot light Tuesday on the Facebook page. Be sure to stop by Wednesday on the blog to check out Design Team Member Moriah's take on the new Chic sketch from The Hens' Den sketch for this month.

Kaisercraft 75 cents collection - Muddy Memories - Lori McClellan

Kaisercraft 75 cents collection
Muddy Memories layout using the March sketch
Created by DT member Lori McClellan

I am so excited today to share with you a new Chic sketch from The Hens' Den.  We will be using this all month for our Design Team projects and hope that all our followers choose to sketch along with us.

So as you can see, this sketch allows for up to 12 pictures.  I love that!  If every page I scrapped I used only one picture, I will never catch up.

Here is my take on one page of the sketch.  The kaisercrafts 75 cents line has so many beautiful papers in the collection.  I love the butterflies in the die cut pack.  I layers a larger butterfly on the bottom and a smaller one on top, adhered them together and folded the wings.  I love the dimension it brings to the layout.

And here is my finished page.

You can find all the KasierCraft 75 cent paper collection supplies to make this layout at The Hens' Den.  Go check it out today.   I hope you play along this month.  If you use our sketch send us a picture on facebook or share on the gallery on the blog!

Be sure to check out Design Team Member Janet's Bagnall's take on the new Chic Sketch for The Hens' Den, on the blog on Monday.
